How to receive an international courier ?

A bank in uk is sending me a courier , but the courier company is asking me to do payment to receive that , they are asking about some 12k to get that.My doubt is, is this a procedure to get an international courier ? please reply me the correct procedure to receive it and tel the truth behind it
