What is it like living in states like Colorado, Minnesota, Montana, and any other states besides CA?

I've lived in southern California my entire life and I'm so used to going to Hollywood on the weekends and shopping in Beverly Hills for homecoming dress and going to Laguna Beach for Spring Break weekends--I never gave a thought to how people live in the Midwest and stuff without these things. What is it like to live in those states...like what do you guys do for fun and like what does it look like in those states (i'm used to big cities and crowded neighborhoods without little scenery and LOTS OF CARS)????
