If this new place is very quiet (old people go there for leisure lol) I don't see why the horse would not settle. Horses can surprise you, they adjust very quickly to their surroundings. I am sure that the horse will be fine outside, your winters in UK are nothing like winters in North America and our horses do fine outside. Although some like to keep them in, it is not a must. It is a plus also to have the other girl with her horse there for company.
